Concert with Millhouse Male Voice Choir Details TBC
This year our longest serving choir member, Roger Bray, clocked up 50 years and we celebrated this major milestone with Roger at the AGM (see photo). The choir continues to benefit from Rogers' lovely baritone singing voice and our concerts are very often enlivened when Roger performs one of his comic monologues. Congratulations Roger.
Along with Roger, the choir celebrates 50 years since being formed by Alan Simmons. To celebrate half a century of choral singing in the Holme Valley, we will have a 50th Anniversary Concert at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on 12th July 2026. Keep an eye on this page for further details.
Also in 2026 the Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir have invited our choir to perform with them again, this time on their home turf at St.John's Church in Penistone. The concert will be on Saturday 3rd October 2026,...further details to follow.
During October we were contacted by one of our past Conductors, Lipok, who now lives in India. Lipok is celebrating twenty five years since he became a professional conductor and composer and in reaching out to music groups he has worked with in the past, he contacted our choir requesting a short video. As a choir we remember when Lipok conducted us from 2008 to 2009 and we all wanted to send him a congratulations video (see video opposite). On receiving the video, Lipok emailed us photos of when he worked with us sixteen years ago, and let us know that a compilation of all the videos he has received will be played at a special concert on 28th October.
It was lovely to hear from Lipok and very timely given we are celebrating fifty years since our choir was formed.
